Spiced Honey Orange Syrup

Sweet citrus infused syrup with spiced flavors.

I like keeping items in my pantry that I can use to boost flavor. Making infused syrups from seasonal ingredients can help balance flavors in dishes such as salad dressing, desserts, drinks or grilled vegetables. The ideas are endless.

This syrup is great drizzled over grilled vegetables, on crepes or over fruit salad. It has a great balance between the sweet honey and the sour citrus with a kick from the cloves and cardamom. I also love it drizzled over my morning biscuits.

Spiced Honey Orange Syrup

The Recipe…

Slice oranges on the equator and start to layer them in a glass container that can be tightly closed. In between a few slices of orange, place each of the whole spices. Repeat and fill all the way to the top.

Pour the honey slowly so that it fills in between the orange slices all the way to the top. Add the cinnamon stick and any extra whole spices to the top. Place the jar in the fridge and let marinate overnight.

Recipe Tips:

  • Use this spiced honey to make salad dressings, serve with cheese boards, sweeten tea, marinate chicken, anything you use honey for!

Make Ahead:

  • This recipe is best made ahead and left to sit for a couple of days, so the flavors can marry.

Storing tips:

  • The honey syrup can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 months.
  • After a couple weeks, I would take the orange slices out, so the syrup does not get bitter from the rind.
